The Campus Dakota Team is looking for help!
Look, we're good at what we do, but we can't do it alone. We want to make Campus Dakota as good as we can, and that means having more people involved.
We're looking for help in the areas listed below (in no particular order)--but don't look yet!
We know you're busy, and we don't expect everyone to put in as much time as Matt and Brian do (seriously, online for over 20 days? Who does that?). That's why we've broken the Team up into smaller groups, so that even in that group, nobody has to do everything.
Now would be a good time to let you know we can’t pay you. However, the work you do for Campus Dakota will have a lasting and important positive impact on your fellow students. Additionally, we think good work at Campus Dakota is a great example of something serious to put on a future resume.
Take a look below and see who we're looking for--if you find something you can do, drop us a line (at webmaster@campusdakota.com). If you want to help but don't see something listed that you happen to be good at, let us know, because chances are you can still help out!
All Campus Dakota team members should, of course, promote Campus Dakota to their friends and enemies.
Content Development (writers, talkers, artists, cartoonists)
The Content Development Group creates content on a wide range of topics of interest to college students. If you like to write, draw, podcast, make up new vernacular, or anything else creative, we'd like to talk to you. Practice your skills at communicating and editing and get your work out for the world to see!
Data Acquisition (fad-finders, gossip knowers, reporters)
The Data Acquisition Group makes sure we're all up to date on everything. They scour the Internet, print, and other media to find resources that will be beneficial to students in North and South Dakota. This can include other websites, local and regional events, news, gossip, or anything that will benefit or inform students.
Graphic Design (artists, technical artists, color-smart individuals)
The Graphic Design Group develops graphics (both web and print) and related material for Campus Dakota as well as the student organizations that Campus Dakota serves. Here's your chance to create the face of the website! Graphic design skills (obviously) a plus, but if you have a good artistic sense you don’t have to be able to draw.
Innovation (dreamers, inventors, thinkers, brainstormers)
The Innovation Group is responsible for brainstorming new ideas for Campus Dakota and how we may meet our mission and goals of serving the students. They don’t have to worry about whether things are technically possible (that’s for the other groups to figure out). Have a good idea? You're in.
Liaison (communicators, doers, walk-arounders)
The Liaison Group is Campus Dakota's “official” link to each school and student organization. They may be in charge of local events, submitting articles to the Content Development Group, distribution of advertising and publication materials on campus, and generally keep the rest of us in the loop as far as what's going on.
Marketing (talkers, sellers, people people)
The Marketing Group will create and arrange the distribution of advertisements for Campus Dakota through various media, with a focus on furthering the brand image of Campus Dakota as a resource for students in North and South Dakota. These group members are friendly, outgoing and good communicators.
Moderation (readers, writers, debaters, knowing-where-the-line-is-ers)
The Moderation Team will be responsible for keeping a small modicum of decorum throughout the Campus Dakota message boards while keeping in mind the free-speech ideals inherent in the website. They will ensure that Campus Dakota remains a welcoming place. Conflict management skills are a plus.
Support (helpers, fixers, listeners)
The Support Group ensures that the needs of the Campus Dakota community are being met. They keep track of any problems that may arise and make sure those issues are addressed by the right part of the team. Communication skills and an understanding of the many faces of Campus Dakota are useful.
Web Design and Development (coders, tweakers, content managers)
The Web Design and Development Group is responsible for the development of all individual aspects of the Campus Dakota website. The team also assists with student organization website development. Good working knowledge of coding, design and usability are great to have--but we don't require a degree in anything.
Project Managers (people managers, think aheaders)
The Project Managers oversee the entire project, take care of business and legal issues, and help guide the entire team based on the purpose, mission, vision, and values and beliefs of Campus Dakota. Team members who show dedication to Campus Dakota, excellent work ethic and a good knowledge of the site as a whole will be considered for this area.
If you can imagine yourself in one, several, all, or part of these groups, we’d love to hear from you! Please send an email describing how you would like to help out and some of the skills you have (even if you have none) to webmaster@campusdakota.com
